About Jenni

September 19th, 2008

bannockburnI’m an American who has recently emigrated to a rural town in southern Ontario, Canada (hubby is the canuck). I live in a care-worn old victorian with my three little dual citizens: Katie (7), Jack (4), Tom (2) and my husband, Steve. He commutes 10 feet across our deck every morning to his office in the carriage house where he operates KUZUKA, a new carbon offset marketplace that we started together in 2008. Although we often drive each other crazy, it is pretty exciting to create something together (other than babies).

Why am I starting a blog? I’m inspired by what I am reading in other mommy blogs - especially the ones aimed at greening your life. I feel like I have something to add to that genre (did I mention my sage and invaluable advice?). I am absolutely supportive of the green movement. However, I struggle with convenience and the daily whims of a (fairly) average family of five (how do you deny those soulful eyes a trip to McDonalds?)

My quest is to find balance as I simplify my life, reduce my eco-guilt, educate my family (and hopefully others) and continue to green my world without turning into a patchouli-wearing earth-mother, burning incense while snacking on carob chip cookies as I breast-feed my 8-year-old.

Stick with me as I document my journey towards the kind of mother, wife and responsible citizen of this planet that I am striving to become.

I couldn’t stop laughing at “without turning into a patchouli-wearing earth-mother, burning incense while snacking on carob chip cookies as I breast-feed my 8-year-old.”

Here’s to living a green life!

Wendy- It’s one of my biggest fears! :-)

Ha, ha! Love this - I’m a little concerned about the patchouli problem for myself, but my third baby got weaned early b/c he kept BITING ME (and i don’t like pain) so i think i’m safe on the 8-yr-old breast feeding.
    Unless we have another one.
Then it’s all up in the air again.
    :)

I’ve got a friend who keeps buying me patchouli soap just because I happened to make that biting comment! (I actually do like the smell) ;-)

My third got weaned a bit earlier due to biting as well…
